A device name does not describe the whole system
BEA’s MS41 is an example of a touchless actuator with configurable detection and output timing. Its LZR-FLATSCAN 3D SW is a door-mounted safety system that also offers a virtual activation function. Those product examples show why equipment should be identified by its documented capabilities rather than by appearance alone.
A technician or designer needs the exact models and interfaces. A wall control and an overhead operator can be from different manufacturers, and suitability depends on the selected combination.
Opening requests and entry permission are separate
At a secured door, a reader or access controller determines authorization. The operator then has to coordinate with lock release. Adding touchless activation must preserve the building’s intended public-hours and credentialed-entry arrangements.
For that scope, review automatic door and access-control integration with the party responsible for the security system.
How to describe what you already have
Photograph the complete opening, the wall controls and the operator’s visible identification label without removing covers. Note whether the door moves under power today and whether the project concerns entry, exit or both.
Use those details to choose between new touchless activation and operator installation or replacement. The site review resolves any uncertainty about the installed equipment.
